TOP DEFINITION
Nickname for a cooked sheep's head, a traditional township dish. When it's roasted, the sheep's lips pull back, giving the appearance of a grin or "smile." People call it a smiley because of that look. Eaten with salt and sometimes chilies.
"They were selling smiley at the market β you could see rows of sheep heads, charred skin, teeth showing in a grin. It's not for everyone, but some folks really enjoy eating the tender cheek meat."
