TOP DEFINITION
A local quirk in English where "there by" is used when talking about location. Influenced by Afrikaans "daar by", you'll hear things like, "I stay there by Cape Town". It just means "in/at (a place)."
""Where's Ouma today?" β "She's there by the shops," meaning she's at the shops (using the typically South African structure)."
